| Pam - I agree with my wife's viewpoint that we should always seek a 'fair exchange of energy' as defined by the 2 parties in whatever transaction. To me that means you don't show up to a party without a gift ... but it's not like your getting a gift JUST to go to the party ... It's a gesture that is meant to bring happiness to the other party at some inconvenience or expense to you that you are happy to provide. By your strictest definition of prostitution, then every woman on earth who has had sex has prostituted herself, including female posters on this board.
By the same token, men who change diapers, do chores, buy flowers, whatever to make their wives happier aren't buying their wive's good graces as much as they are expressing their love by giving of themselves and some sacrifice.
BTW - my wife would be tremendously offended at the suggestion that 'pleasing me' is in some way prostitution because she knows that I am happy to return any favors in search of that 'fair exchange of energy' ... It is just a fluke of the English language and the connotation of the word 'prostitution' that the 'equal exchange of energy for sex' is considered just that. |
