| Japan is the major ME oil consumer, the EU and US rely primarily on other sources. According to figures I'm familiar with the US' imports from the region are about 15% of its total foreign oil imports (about 25% comes from Venezuela and a bit less from Mexico, smaller fractions from other places). Foreign oil, it should be noted, is a fraction of US consumption.
