I don't know if this is related, but I seem to remember one of Johnny Carson's guests was a man who had a little machine that supposedly produced more work for a given energy input than normal, and that he 'discovered' by thinking outside the box.

Apparently this came natural to him, as he had never been introduced to the "box", having never studied physics formally.

I've never seen him since, and don't remember his name, as I was more preoccupied with rock and weed at the time.

I just thought that if there were really anything to it (despite having been reviewed by an engineer at MIT or something) that it would have caught on........or been stifled by those heavily invested in "fossil" fuels.
