It isn't just about "letting slip exasperation". One doesn't have to insult the other's intelligence to vent.
The fact that it is frequent leads to an air of hostility upon entering a debate.
I'm just really annoyed that "How can I hide the insult this time?" has become a frequently practiced tactic.
