| A New Government - United America: Ok... a lot of people are talking about how much they hate their current government in the US. Here in Canada, we're pretty PO'd about ours as well, for different reasons, yet similar due to democracy being taking advantage of with loopholes and being stuck voting for the lesser of two or three evils.
There was also speculation and talk of some or all of Canada being merged with the US a while back in the 90's.... roughly around the time Quebec was moaning about separation and being their own nation.
I was totally against the idea of merging with the US, and some people in the US were against having some of Canada added to the US. One country would not want the other country's government, because they're used to their own.
---------------------------------------
So I figured with all the semi-intelligent people in this forum, if we all got together and brainstormed a government that we would like to see in place to replace the current system.
Both governments so have their positives, but also many negatives. Perhaps implement the parts of the current system that you do like and add or change around those as a foundation to start from.
If someone has one idea and explains it, and you like it, but want to change something, quote it and bold the section you would like to change or remove. Explain why and see what others think. Work on one section at a time until it's pretty solid and then work on the next agenda.
When one part of the theorized government is completed, and the majority are pleased, I'll copy and paste that section and store it. Once it's all completed, I'll post it all into one large PDF or in another thread to start it all off clean and then go over it one more time with a fine comb.
I was kinda trying to do this with my other thread about Direct Democracy, but I think it got taken the wrong way or I explained things improperly. That government theory I started was to be picked apart and changed (A grounds to start from) ~ but ended up more of an argument of why it won't work (Which was obvious, hence why I posted it in the first place.)
Anyways, if anybody's got some ideas they want to throw out there to start on, that'd be great.
I called the title of this thread "United America" Because in this forum, we'll probably have input from people both in Canada and the US.... and those who are interested outside of these two, you're more then welcome to join in. But if there is input from people in both countries, I imagine if in the end of this thread, if everything is made in a decent agreement, then this theory could be placed for both countries.... and if both countries have the same government guidelines, then it'd be logical to form one large country and combine our forces as one.
So without anymore delay.... let the games begin. |
