As I re-read this topic, this post seemed like a good one to reply to. Many years ago; my Church sent missionaries to a South-Sea island, (Papua, New Guinea), and if it wasn't for the Bible; some of those people over there would eat you when you go for a vacation there.
Your comment raises the notion that a Biblical role model, as you called it, is "perfect" in every way; when in fact the Bible does not make this claim. The Bible does, however make the claim that God is willing to work with us; and within us.
We do have some choice we can make there, as did all the "Bible greats."
