1) Elimination of illegal activity such as child prostitution, "white slavery" and control of the sex industry by organized crime syndicates.
2) Better control of Venerial Diseases, HIV, Genetal Herpes, Syphilis etc.
3) Increase the Tax base.
4) A descrease in sex crimes.
Keep in mind that in most of Europe and Asia, legalized but carefully regulated prostitution has been a success.
Street prostitution should be illegal but brothels should be legal. The brothel can control whether the women is safe or not through surveillance. The government can collect taxes on brothels. Women should be checked for STD’s at least on a monthly basis. Street prostitution should continue illegal, because this is where sex crimes occur. Rapes will decrease because men will no longer feel that this is the only way they can have sex. If prostitution is done in an organized way it can be beneficial for the economy and tourism. |
All prostitution should be legal, regardless of whether it is on the streets or in a brothel. Sure, it's loads safer in a brothel, but if a woman wants to do that with her body, she should have the freedom to do so. Anyway, this is just principle, because if prostitution was legal, a woman would obviously prefer a brothel.
