??? They are the original Bill of Rights. They are individual rights that protect our citizens from the government. They were added at the insistance of some of the original states due to problems some of them had that certain circumstances hadn't been eunumerated within the body of the Constitution.
The later Amendments are seen as collective rights. Some constitutionalists believe that all the later Amendments are unconstitutional. I would agree with that myself with a couple exceptions. Most of the later amendments were unnecessary, unwise, or both and should be repealed.
