| 4 Turks tried for publishing Chomsky book: 4 Turks tried for 'insulting Turkishness' by publishing Chomsky book appear in court - iht, europe,Turkey Chomsky Publisher Trial - Europe - International Herald Tribune Quote:
ISTANBUL, Turkey The trial of a publisher, translator and two editors charged with crimes for producing a Turkish version of Noam Chomsky's book, "Manufacturing Consent," was adjourned to a later date on Tuesday to give the defense more time to prepare.
The four men face up to six years in jail for "insulting Turkishness" and "inciting the people to hatred and enmity" by publishing the American leftist writer's book.
| Keep in mind that Turkey is an ally of ours and a human rights abuser against Kurds. This country once banned the Kurdish language and now is going after people for publishing a book.
I am actually a reasonable fan of Chomsky and I'm wondering what are your views on this development?
