| You're right Sub. companies will try to keep their profit margins as high as possible. However, competition does have the affect of forcing companies to maintain competetive prices or face losing business.
Government does miss the big picture regarding business for a couple of reasons.
1. Career politicians and beurocrats, focus their attention in the public service arena and simply, generally speaking, don't study enough about how companies are run or how businesses operate.
2. Many politicians, and government employees, don't really like the business community seeing themselves as Knights riding in on their white horses to save the poor downtrodden from those evil corporations and rich businessmen. |
