NPR just covered this, with a little back story. Apparently Gibson's father was a virilent Holocaust denier. When asked back in '04 if he subscribed to his father's views, Gibson denied being anti-semitic, but left it with a cryptic, "My father has never lied to me." Also, in his
Passion of the Christ, he removed the 'blood curse' against the Jews as murderers of Christ... as least the english subtitle... leaving the aramaic dialogue in.
For all the,
"aw, he was just an actor being drunk, what's the big deal", I find the whole thing a bit disturbing. Would anyone here be chuckling if he'd gone on about the damn 'niggers'?
