Clinton signed the Defense of Marriage act into Law. Bush is More Pro Gay rights than anyone, If he got his amendment...It could later be Overturned like Prohibition. This would Force Gay rights on the whole Country. Pardon me for being a Southern Conservative, I'm with Strom on States Rights. Under the current Laws of North Carolina, Our State doesn't have to accept a Gay couple that moves here from California where they may have been Married...because some Mayor was trying to make a name for himself & sow up his re-election. If Your Gay & you wanna get Married in Ca, thats just fine with me, so long as it stays in California. Some people are offended by Howard Stern or Bubba the Love sponge...I'm offended by Primetime shows like Queer Eye. I'm not Homophobic, I'm not Anti rights, but Gays need to accept Rights under the terminology "Cival Union". The word Marriage was borrowed by Our Gov't, from the Church, to promote Family. So It bothers me that Gays push for usage of the Word, because they're asking their Gov't to give them something that the Gov't doesn't control. I believe they want the word because to them it would Validate what they do, others think they want usage of the Word because they want to anger Christians & Hedrosexuals. Half of the people who read what I have written here would disect it & Stereotype me, but thats because they believe differently. I understand that Animals of the same gender have Sex, but I also have heard of People having Sex with Animals, so just because you can argue that point...it doesn't make it right. I wonder If any Animals of the same Gender have the ability to reproduce together. I wonder why HIV hit the Homosexual community the hardest first, could it be that Our seed is important to God & Homosexuality threatened it? Why don't we have some Pro Gay Church create a new Definition? Could they call it Garriage & define it as being between people of the Same sex? Then we could test the Divorce rates of Marriage & Garriage. This Country was founded on seperation of Church & State, so just like a Church couldn't impose Prayer in public School...how could the Gov't impose Gay Marriage on the Church's believers?
