My little sister is adopted. During her adoption process I learned that any idiot with a high enough sperm count can make a baby and be entitled to lord over it. However, anyone who wants to adopt a child can expect the most thorough screening imaginable. The idea is that adoption agencies don't want unfit parents getting hold of children...
... but wait! That leaves the door open for this scenario:
"We've totally failed all your tests and wouldn't be trusted to adopt a child if we were the last couple on Earth? Come on, honey. We're going to make a kid the old-fashioned way!"
If society is going to end up paying for you & your kid then society should have the right to say whether or not you're ready to have a kid.
The process is already in place. It would work EXACTLY like adopting a child, except instead of getting to adopt, you get your egg production / sperm working again. |
