Oh, dear Lord. Franz Ferdinand? The Strokes? How stereotypical of you. Are you one of those quasi-recently out-of-college guys who is "Independent" because he listens to Modest Mouse and their derivatives (e.g., Franz Ferdinand)? You probably also think that older rock (but not the classic stuff) is too "simple" or "polished", right?
ANIME IS TEH SUC... er... sorry.

Reflex.

No... I just whipped out a bunch of other bands that I've been into lately on another thread about classic rock.

I listen to cd101 because they don't suck and because they play music that I like. Beyond that, the fact that they're independently owned, support independent and local music is just a bonus. I always thought Modest Mouse sounded like pussies. Franz Ferdinand derivative of them? I'm not hearing it. I'd need to listen to more Modest Mouse I guess. I think World Leader Pretend is a better band than both groups anyway.

A lot of the other stuff I listen to is kinda out there. Have you ever heard of Martin Dosh? I saw him in concert once. His stuff is pretty cool.

I saw him touring with Andrew Bird who's also an aquired taste.

Of late, I've been on a huge Maura Picotto kick. I listen to his stuff while I work out.

Being from Ohio, I have to give mad props to The Black Keys.

And sometimes it's just fun to geek out with They Might Be Giants, Devo, and Moxy Fruvous.

On the local scene, mad props to Shadowbox Cabaret, Kelp, and the Whiles.

EDIT: I keep trying to get Kevin Browning to listen to Peeping Tom and Wolfmother, but I don't think he'll listen to me. See what you can do. I think he'd dig them. He may even like Dungen if he can get past it being is Swedish (I think...).
