The article writer didn't clarify something important: the Pope's prayers for ( and remarks concerning ) Iraq And Etc were made during a portion of the Liturgy Of The Mass in which the Priest and Laity may offer up ( either vocally or silently ) any prayer they like. For example:
Celebrant ( Priest ): "For peace in Iraq, we pray to the Lord"
All: "Lord, hear our prayer."
and so on and so forth. The Homily ( sermon ) portion of the Mass, abit earlier, would have contained the Pope's Easter message. |
