Congress Attempts to Kill the "Third-Party Threat"

Proposed Legislation Creates Treasury-Funded Campaigns for the Two
Major Parties, Leaving Third Parties with No Means to Run

(Washington, D.C.) On February 1, congressional Democrats, led by Rep.
Obey of Wisconsin, introduced a bill, H.R. 4694, that would end viable,
third-party competition in races for the U.S. House of Representatives.

The bill, ironically named the "Let the People Decide Clean Campaign
Act," would mandate public funds (taken from the U.S. Treasury) to candidates
for the House of Representatives and forbid candidates from taking private
funds such as contributions from individual donors.

The ambiguously-written bill provides funds for candidates of the "two major parties" but essentially scuttles any campaign efforts of third-party or independent candidates.

For third-party candidates to be eligible for the same funds that
Republicans and Democrats would receive, they would have to obtain enough
signatures to exceed 20% of votes cast in the last election within their district.

The catch under the proposed legislation is that third-party or independent candidates cannot pay petitioners to collect any signatures, making it impossible to fund their campaigns.

H.R. 4694 is yet another attempt by our politicians in office to shut
down Libertarian Party candidates and other competitive third-party and
independent campaigns.

"The Republican and Democratic parties exist to maintain power for
their own benefit. The Libertarian Party exists to grasp power for the benefit
of the nation," stated Shane Cory, chief of staff for the Libertarian Party.
"American voters are waking up to this reality, and as they do, the
two parties are trying everything within their power to shut us down."

The proof is now finalized to all you naysayers who DENY the bi-partisan conspiracy!

The time for revolt is at our doorsteps, and if the people don't stop these things from happening by National DEMAND for Redress of Grievances, we and the world are doomed to economic, political slavery.

I am aghast at this move, and I am also SURE that this is a sign that the major parties KNOW they are threatened in the coming elections by 3rd party growth.

With steps this bold to consolidate power, coupled with the changes in emminent domain, War and Emergency Powers, The Patriot Act, the Secret Prisons, The Torture abuses, The BAD Intelligence, The daisy chain of whistle blowers and the daily leaks, abuses and fallacies being emitted from Washington on BOTH sides of the aisle, we are on the verge of either collapse, take over or revolt.

I urge all Americans to stop what your daily lives demand and MAKE time to call and write all of your representatives in the entire chain of command and DEMAND this bill be struck down, and a bill demanding OPEN debates between ALL PARTIES for ALL city, state and national elections replace it!

If this bill passes ( http://cha.house.gov/legislation/leg...px?NewsID=1319 ) as it stands now, all that will be left is the call to arms.
That means :
- Democrats along with Republicans want to seal all the funds to be shared between (them), and only.
In chase after money, they grab whatever source available to serve their political needs.

It would have a tremendous impact on other-than-Democrats-and-Republicans parties political campaigns (at least). It - practically - leaves other political parties without basic financial support. Such move limits other-than-Democratic-and-Republican parties' political activities, very drasticaly.
In other words : required 20% support would hardly materialize without a steady and heavy financial support.
It sux.

Those guys want to make a way to Capitol much harder for those without Democratic and/or Republican origins.

This is a serious political mistake going for that Bill. That move would bring opposite reaction. It makes me think, that more individuals would start to switch party's shades and/or create their own ones, what reverses that whole Bill (some time later), and Democrats along with Republicans start looking for new political alliance with other political parties. Otherwise, a political instability would surface that affects economy, following by social unrests.

Why ?
No political monopoly ever survived.
Democrats along with Republicans are not the exception to that.
The time matters, and only.

I think that Bill would be corrected.
