| They wouldn't stand a chance of enforcing it. Interception is one thing, censorship another altogether.
To fully regulate even an obvious group like political bloggers, the Feds would have to alter the behavior of the Web and disrupt so many established protocols everyone would be affected and complain. They would most likely do such a crappy job of it that they'd open numerous doors to spammers and rogue programmers. Google or Mr. Gates might even object to this.
If anything does come of this, it may be in pissing off every liberal and moderate blogger and pounding another nail in the coffin of the religious-right's influence in government. At least, one can hope. |
