aminal lawal, a nigerian woman, was to be publically stoned for having a baby out of wedlock. a panal of judges has overturned her conviction 4 to 1 on what would probably have been an overlooked technicality. amina lawal's case recieved much media attention here in the west, and millions of signatures were gathered through amnesty international and other organizations to protest this act.

this can be, however, viewed as the west imposing it's way of life and beliefs on the small african country of nigeria. what are your thoughts on the subject? were we just in our intervention? did we even have any effect on this at all?
