At this point I'm not even that sure that this planet needs any saving, and I'm most certain that any "rescue operation" wouldn't be mounted by humans. I highly doubt that buying biodegradeable milk jugs and waving them about your head screaming bloody murder will contribute to the environment; all that fidgeting around you'd be doing might kill off a few earthworms in the process, and we certainly don't want to damage nature's fertilizer factories. In any case, wiping humans out won't do any good but continuing down the same path won't either. Although scientists now aren't even sure if things like global warming are byproducts of industrialization or if they're some sort of geo-atmospheric cycles. I'm sure humans have contributed to mucking up the Earth, but I'm sure if we become too much of an impediment to nature something or other will snuff us out. Our own arrogance is sometimes the reason we don't change our ways.
