Quote by: bishop i don't see drilling in anwr as being any solution whatsoever to our oil dependency.. anwr or not, we STILL depend entirely on foreign oil. ANWR is barely a drop in the bucket, so i can't agree that this is a travesty at all.
If ANWR is not big deal then let the oil companies drill. It'll be profitable for them, the expenses will be born by them, it'll employ many thousands providing high paying jobs and it'll give us some oil. Least we'll be buying a million or so barrels a day from our companies and not the Arabs.
The fuss that the Demos are making over ANWR is mindless. It's simply demogogary (sp?)
i wouldn't have a problem with drilling if the administration/congress included real assistance for alternative energies (i don't think this is really asking too much of our "leaders"). and if that was proposed, i can't see how drilling would've been opposed by the senate. |
Bush offered 16 billion for alternative fuel research and development. That's real assistance. Trouble is the Congress hasn't done anything with the offer. Why? The Demos don't want to give the solution to a Republican Adminstration. Again, the Demos are sacrificing what's good for the country for what they think is good for their party.
