I absolutely hate the left/right scale. I think an authoritarian/libertarian scale is much more accurate. Whether it's fascism or communism, it doesn't matter; an oppressive dictatorship is one of a kind. A lot of hardcore Democrats and hardcore Republicans would probably be grossly offended at suddenly all being lumped into the same pile.

However, statism is statism, and even the strictest minarchists are statists. Minarchism is minimal statism. It is the question of how much statism and what sort of statism. There is, of course, only one, morally acceptable answer. One that will respect the nature of man, and his natural rights, and the virtues and values which he adopts. In this regard, the best, and most efficient, politico-economic system is a laissez-faire capitalism.
