I do believe Jesus was refering to remaining neutral with political affairs of his time, as we would now.
but opposing the current governments installed by man, this would go against what Jesus directly said.
recall when the jews asked Jesus if a man should pay his taxes (taxes are involved in subjection to the local authorities). he said they should pay caesars things to caesar, but gods things to god. (mark 12:17)
the rest of my earlier quote is also good to note: romans 13:1 "...the existing authorities stand placed in their relative positions by God"
anyways... its pretty clear. but you are aloud to pick and choose your beliefs from the bible. I choose to accept it all. :)
