Is there a consensus opinion towards gays in the indigenous American people? Do you think there is a widespread distaste or would homos be welcome?
I know of know of no consensus of various tribe's opinion of gays, some tribes do have a tradition of honoring "twin spirits" (someone who does not dress as gender expected) as shamans, other tribes have made statements condemning gay marriage. The tribe we would give land to in exchange for sovereignty, would not have to be especially pro-gay, merely gay-tollerant, and wanting an expansion of tribal lands. The concept of Americans purchasing land and deeding it back to indigenous people , might be so unique, that it would amuse and interest a tribe that is just kinda on the fence about gays. It's worth a shot.
