| Fisher Price sucks Okay, so my wife and I bought our 5 month old son one of his Christmas presents today. It was one of those little tables with all of the buttons and things on it that the kid can play with and everytime he touches one it lights up and sings a song or something. We wanted to get him something educational for when he is a little older so we got one, made by Fisher Price, that was supposed to play the ABC song and count to 10, among other things, when the appropriate button was pushed. When we got it home my wife played with it a little bit to make sure it was working, and when she hit the button for the alphabet song, it only sang the song through the letter P and stopped. She hit it again to make sure and it stopped at P again. What was really odd was that it didn't sound like a defect. It sounded like it was supposed to be that way. Well, of course this was not acceptable for my son, I don't want him to have to play catch up later and have to learn the letters P through Z, so we returned it to the store we bought it from. When asked if something was wrong with it by the cashier, I told her I wasn't really sure. I explained it to her and told her I wasn't sure if it was supposed to stop at P or not, but either way I would like my kid to learn the WHOLE alphabet. So they gave us store credit and we went back to the toy section to find something else. We wanted to find another of the same toy to see if it was the same way, but there were no more on the shelf. But we picked up a different toy by Fisher Price that was supposed to sing the alphabet, and it too stopped at P.
What the hell?! These toys are tauted as being educational, but how the hell are you doing a kid any favors by only teaching him part of the alphabet? Would it really have put them out to finish the damn alphabet? I can tell you I certainly won't be buying any more Fisher Price toys for my kid. By the way we did find another toy made by VTech that sang the whole alphabet.
