As mentioned, business write off the cost of software, and hire those with experience. They will not hire any boob off the street, and train them to be a graphic artist. I could argue that many of us "professionals" wouldn't have the jobs we do, without pirated software. Often, the software totals around $5k. Simply no way to gain proficientcy with these programs with trial/student versions, when they take years to gain sufficient skills. Even upgrade prices are out of reach for those learning. I have a friend in Thailand who's told me he bought one copy off all the software he needs, then simply distributes it to every computer on the network of 150 employees. So I think if they crack down too hard on the American market, they'll drive away their own customers.
