| Bush's policies and indeed the practices of his administration trend sharply toward tyranny. The Patriot Act was the proverbial tip of the iceberg. The effective abolition of habeas corpus and the wholesale adoption of torture as public policy is despicable, to state the obvious.
It will be interesting to see how he reacts as his administration comes crashing down around him as we continue to lose the war in Iraq and as his senior aides are indicted. Bringing to mind the Chinese curse, we indeed live in interesting times.
