I don't see it as a requirement for Christians in general to sell memberships in their "club".
That's one of the things I love about them, they are very devout but do not impose their beliefs on others, nor do they try to recruit anyone who shows no interest. They have invited my Wife and I to their church a few times and a family member is thinking of joining, but apparently they do not consider us "lost souls" in need of saving whether we want it or not.
IMO, that IS the essence of religion done right. It is something PERSONAL and you don't have a compulsion to talk others into it.
