Some of the best work done on this subject is by Alan F Alford. Unfortunately his second book spent so much time refuting his original ideas laid out in the first that I felt dissinclined to read his ideas any more, in case a next book refuted those too!

I think there is definitely a case for interference of some sort. I hesitate to use the term 'aliens' because it is such an overplayed subject, with so many idiots with false claims. However, I think something either external or from an earlier time on this planet has altered a primitive form of man, even if only through a civilising influence. I believe also that this same 'something' or 'someone' has continuing influence on our developments technologically - because it makes so little sense that a race could go from being land-lubbers to moon-landers within less than a hundred years.
