| All those accounts seem very much to me like the orphan syndrome. The orphan explains to the other orphans that they have parents that love them and will be back to get them. It never happens but it makes people who feel abandoned feel better. In those cases you cite the parents are aliens. In the religious case it is an all powerful sky daddy. Oh well. If it makes them feel better about them selves then fine, as long as they don't become obsessed with it.
