| dthmstr254, hopefully with complete regret, explains how one man is able to stand at the top of one of the twin towers and "miraculously" jump to safety when it collapses:

he jumped at the time that the building collapsed. when the building collapsed the air under it had to go somewhere. so it went out and the man basically came down on top of a plume of wind which slowed him down because the friction and air resistance was high enough to make the terminal velocity of his body lot lower than the usual velocity."
