While I think Biodiesel is a great start, I believe people need to closely look, and compare statistics.
For instance:
Compare hemp, to corn for the purpose of fuel, or 25,000 other uses.

Basic Industrial Uses of Hemp:

IT is all but obvious to some of us, that the government has been outlawing hemp since the beginning to aid certain industries that have contributed ENORMOUSLY to the coffers of Washingtons political machine since the early 1900's.
The arguments used to build the case against hemp and marijuana were all built on mis-information that has been proven time and again. Prohibition has been PROVEN to fail, regardless of the amount of dollars and lives expended in the "War on Drugs" campaign. Our justice system is showing the toll, and burden, from non-violent drug offenders being imprisoned with the same priority as violent offenders.
We use trees, which are not only a valuable resource, but also ESSENTIAL to our property development, soil health, air quality and climate, instead of using hemp to provide paper. Hemp is more beneficial and productive to use for paper than wood, and much less costly to the end buyer. Hemp paper need not be starched white, as wood, which as a byproduct of its use reduces chemical abuse to the land from bleaching methods of wood products for paper.
We use oil, which must be bought from often hostile foreign lands, has cost us many wars, and global conflict based on energy crisis panic, instead of using hemp based bio-diesel, which is far more productive than corn, per yield.
Now they want to use corn, a viable food crop, for industrial use. Hemp is much more productive than corn for bio-diesel, and land is a commodity. Why would we destroy more land for farming than necessary, especially when the industrial uses for hemp far surpass the small advantage of ONE more use for corn. Legalizing hemp, and marijuana would re-boom the farm market to an unprecedented level in this nation since food preservatives were discovered.
This countries (USA) resources have been being bled dry, for no good reason OTHER THAN profit, and that is just plain madness, especially when considering the additional toxic toll on the land for these processes.
I am a die-hard muscle-car afficianado. I will always prefer 8 cylinders to anything less for my engine in ANY car. I insist on buying vehicles that not only function, but appeal to me and my intrests. I spend a lot of money on my car, when money is available. I customize, modify, create and perfect my cars, as opposed to spending large dollars for something that is "close" to what I want. I demand performance, as well as efficiency, since anyone that knows ANYTHING about engines understands the balance of power and efficiency.
For these reasons, as well as my Constitutional rights, I support hempfuel, bio-diesel based on hemp, the legalization of hemp for all purposes, and the decriminalization of all existing drugs. I believe prohibition of any kind of substance for ingestion, is absurd based on historical facts, and lessons proven.
