| As most people are in prison for drug related crimes, particularly ownership, something as simple as carrying 1g of cannabis will put you away in the US, and there are also numerous crimes that arn't anti-social ones, for example in the UK most women are in prison because they are single mothers who can't pay their TV licenses.
These people are not dangers to society, but society rejected them. But even so, it doesn't matter if you killed 1000 people, you still have human rights, and to protest is one of them.
If I was in that prison I'd organise a hunger strike.
