Hilary is very well liked by the Democratic base, so if she were to run, it is very possible that she would get the Democratic nomination. If the Democrats want to win in the general election though, they will need someone who can turn some red states into blue states, and I doubt Hilary can do that (with the possible exception of Arkansas, which wouldn't be enough). The results would probably be similar to what happened in 2004, a close election, but a clear victory for the Republicans in the electoral college. Of course I am assuming that the Republicans will nominate a viable candidate. If they don't then all bets are off.
If the Democrats want to win I think they will need to nominate a Southern or Midwestern white male, Edwards or Clark probably being the best possible candidates of those considered likely to run. I think that is the only way they will be able to turn red states into blue states.
