| Here's where we get into very muddy water. I don't agree with the conspiracy thing about 9/11, but I also don't agree we helped anyone in Iraq, either. The Iraqi's are in worse condition than when we came. The fundamentalist Sharia law as mentioned above is now in force in the abcence of a real government and enough police, courts, etc. They flat out said they are restricted from doing everything they want (limb chpping, executions) while the US is there, but as soon as we leave...and for Afganistan, the only thing better there is a small area that we are in control of. Everyone else is subject to the same they were before we got there.
These people will be returned to the state they were in or worse in no time after we leave - only the oil companies will be the benefactors of our wars, this much is true.
The Afgans themselves said the Northern Alliance, who we used to fight the Taliban and who we were trusting, are no better than the Taliban. The Afgan people said they were just as corrupt, just as much rapists and murderers as the Taliban.
So how are we helping them?
Who is the gentle dictator that will take over in Iraq when we leave?
