| i've never been a serious debator, and i don't have any interest in becoming one. i don't debate to prove myself or my life philosophies. i debate because in doing so, i significantly research the topic i am debating. i debate because it forces me to learn.
i also debate (probably mainly) because it kills a significant amount of time. since my girlfriend lives in another country (for the time being, however in five days i will be with her for several months before returning home) and i do not enjoy television or video games, i need to kill my time somehow. despite a job, attending school and working on comissions, i still find i have more than enough free time on my hands, and i figure i might as well learn.
that's also why i never debate a topic i know alot about, because it more or less defeats the purpose for me. |
