| PETA has also long objected to lab experiments on animals. It's hard to identify with a lab rat (even though I used to raise rats as pets and think they're great) but when you see the videos of the ways chimps are treated, it even makes me wince. I understand the need to test drugs, but it's only our belief that humans are somehow "better" than chimps that allows those labs to do what they do. I'm much more in support of testing drugs on human volunteers. How do I know a drug that worked for a chimp is necessarily going to work the same way on me anyway? |
