And the far right's desire to ban gay marriage, it has little if anything to do with the word "marriage". That's just a side issue to distract from the homophobic and ignorant fear many of them feel toward gays in general. Many legislators may make speeches praising the nuclear family, the Waltons and the Cleavers, but they have often had divorces and bad relationships of their own. They're no fools. They know they can't openly proclaim prejudice, so they make a big deal out of preserving the idealistic concept of marriage...all the while really just trying to make sure gays are kept out of sight and quiet.
For a lot of people it has nothing to do with fear or hate. That's just a cinvient lame attack against the right.

I would be 100% behind Civil Unions, I am agains the gay marriage amendment, and I support TG persons and rights 100%.

That being said I also find myself against homosexuality based on principle, and morals. But that doesn't mean I hate, or fear them.

Einstein's "Theory of Relativity" is still being challenged to this day, but by consensus Global Warming is a fact... that's REAL science at work, why didn't Albert just go that route?
