I am not outraged because their is always a party line, it is always ficticious and it often contains errors. It does not matter if you are a dictater or a president, the only difference is who you have to lie to.

The dictator has to do certain things to stay in power. He can only start a war with so big a country, and he can only spend as much as he can replace from the labor of his slaves. He has to have support from powerful allies and he has to convince them that they are getting their moneys worth, so he has to lie to them to keep them from destroying the country, since their greed will topple the country if left unchecked.

The president is in a simular situation. Less is required from him by those supporters because they also have to compete with rival factions, but he also has to consider the morale of the people, and that other party is happy to exaggerate any mistake. Therefore honesty is right out of the question, becuase it is much easier to maintain a good simple lie, than to wait for the first mistake with the truth to destroy your reputation.

This is simply the nature of any complex government. Any fool that thinks an honest man could possibly be put in a position of power should not be in politics, but do not worry they seldom last long enough to do any damage!!!

Honor is a luxery that those in power cannot afford. A good ruler is one that knows this and is selective in his honesty, a bad ruler is one that tries to maintain his honor, because he is broken and corrupted in due course.
and you condone this machavalein dictatorship?
Sounds like we need to overthorw the whole system, if that's the way things really work.
