God said they could, did not say they should, so where is your point? Times have changed, and it is no longer socially acceptable, so although they have been given the right to have slaves by God, they do not have slaves because it is now considered to be wrong by society.

As for Christians, they follow the teachings of Christ, who never said Christians could have slaves, but rather that everyone can be a son of God, and that God looks upon everyone in the same way. Otherwise, Gentiles would not have been converted. This way, he teaches that all men and women are equal before God, and God loves them all. Therefore none is lower than you, and you must respect everyone as you wish to be respected. Something some Christians (names will not be mentioned) have trouble dealing with.
