Analog Kid you have a very good point about the insurance industry, the cost of medical care went up and up due to the fact that insurance companies started to pay the bills (as well as simular governmental programs). The reason is that the insurance companies and governments have millions of dollars that the doctors could tap into and they found out they could bill them for higher amounts then what they could bill individual people for. The insurance company would simply raise the payment for the policy or remove some of the benifits to make ends meet. Where as governments could raise taxes for their programs.

I'm an old dude so let me tell you about the early 1950s before people had medical coverage by insurance companies, the doctors and hospitals had to charge people amounts that they could afford to make payments on out of their family income, it was as simple as that. Doctors did not live high on the hog but always tended to the poor folks anyway on a "pay as you can bases" and no one ever ended up in a courtroom for failure to pay the bills on time because doctors were above that kind life style. But of course the quality of service might not have been as advanced as it is nowadays with all the new fancy equipment. We (most of us) survived anyway with a medical payment to the Doc. of about 10.00 a month. The Doc would mix his own precriptions and hand them out for the most part. But we ate real food and walked most places.

Paying our way with cash out of the pocket kept everything in perspective and business knew the limitations of that system. That system was blown out of the water during the 1960s with credit, insurance companies, governmental programs, and when doctors and drug companies took advantage of what amounted to an illusionary expansion of wealth for the individual workers via "credit cards" and insurance policies.
We went into hock and stayed there.

In turn we had to earn more money so we got into unions and did get bigger paychecks (which basically only partly covered the addition expenses of the new era of debt), that put us higher then other countries relative to our pay checks and so then everyone wanted to work here and send money back to their old country (where their family lives),

That illusionary expanded wealth is called the American Dream. We drive new cars and our doctors have really neat stuff to use for their treatments nowadays, all because we live for today and pay our way later on (sometimes). And if you plot your way with care it is not a bad system when you compare it with other parts of the world. A Dollar Down gets you in the game.

But the point of this post was about medicare coverage for sex drugs when they do not even cover some other drugs that old people really need for maintaining health.
When you retire you cannot live now and pay later because they know later might not last for very long. Fact is you can live longer with half hour walks which work as well as being sexually active phyically. I should bill medicare for doing push-ups!

Whatcha think
