For some time now I've been pondering why we, of all mammalian species, should have an odd number of ribs in the male, and an even number in the female (1 more than the man). Supposedly the big YHWH in the sky reached down and plucked one out to make the female from.
But as I said, its got me thinking. Perhaps it ties in with the search for the proverbial missing link. Could it be that some race of star-faring aliens stopped by in days gone by and did a spot of genetic engineering? Maybe a likely bunch of brachiating hominids were engineered to have the female in oestrus in almost the exact opposite schedule to all other mammals. Maybe the rib idea was like an artistic flourish by the project team involved.
I like to think that this group of roving aliens stopped by for a little graduate work in genetic engineering. For a young god-like alien, perhaps coursework would entail designing and building a progressively more complex set of beings to fit within the ecological niches that they were collectively evolving.
I can't wait for the secret messages encoded in the junk DNA of the Human genome to be decoded.<hr size="1" /></blockquote><span class='postcolor'>
