| I would be happy, because I know for myself, and I believe most people are this way, you learn to discover what really intrests you when all other stressors are reduced.
If people had time to really explore the billions of volumes of information our societies have created, documented, equated, and compiled people would see that there is much more to life than working and watching tv. Learning is FUN, when you actually find things you WANT to learn about, whether it is political science, or how to create and tie the perfect fishing lure for Walleye.
The biggest thing that keeps people from truly enjoying life, is TIME, and how society has become so adept at stealing it from people in an "effort to make all our lives easier." Society has steadily increased our level of interaction as to make the majority of our day accounted for on some calendar of appointments for both business and personal stressors.
I think everyone in the world would benefit from a mandatory year off, and being FORCED to occupy themselves for a year. My times of unemployment, have forced me to do this, and also caused me to find where my true intrests lie which in my opinion has released a wave of creativity and intrest in areas I never knew I cared about.
Life may be physically easier now than when we were hunter gatherers, but the mental effects of stress is indicative that now we must find a way for society to allow for both, complex society and a reasonable level of stress.
One way the Germans have been ahead of us for years, in their worksharing programs.
