That quote is kind of ambiguous being that he never says when he first heard about it; he's not saying he heard about it immediately or saw live coverage, so from what all of us are reading there isn't the huge deception that you talk of. Maybe he's a dumbass and he saw it an hour later, for all I know that could be his case from that little crap quote snippet which you posted.
