I guess I don't understand how this relates but I will give it a shot... We cycle every 28 or so days right? Horses do too. What other thing cycles like that? The moon. Yup, we cycle kinda like the moon although now we have the funky drugs that make us cycle differently and such like when we want to make sure we aren't pregnant and stuff. No, I don't partake in those. We are pregnant for nine full months, the horse 11 full months, YUCK!

The horse also gets just as cranky as, well, women do. Nit picking other horses if they are in a herd, don't like to be ridden (no pun intended), and are just unhappy creatures during that time. Again, these are general statements as some mares are not unpleasant during eostrus just like some women. Also, when you have a house full of females, they begin to cycle together eventually, with the dominant female determining when that time is. Dogs are like this as well... The one that comes into heat first (as in a kennel) is usually the dominant female or the one that wants to be...
I have heard it said that women have extra ribs based upon the fact that we must carry the child... Maybe, maybe not. I will stick with the story.
