His rant seems mostly anti-organized religion based and I agree with much of what he says; although he could have been more organized in the way his collected thoughts poured out on the air. This is one of the problems with speaking in public, and it always will be. It's those who manage to say the least offensive, soggy toast like stuff that scare me. They often seem to be covering up evil intent.

Let's take these quotes further down in the text...

Quote:
"First of all, I never said I didn't–I never said I didn't believe in God. I said I don't believe in religion."
and...

Quote:
MAHER: "Excuse me. Religion is a bureaucracy between man and God. There is a very big difference."

Organized religion does tend to pour crap into little heads too often. Even the most open churches I have attended seem to do so. They also can create armies of mindless sheep who march against the Fundies, or the Secularists, or the... Personally if a minister, Rabbi or Priest told me who I MUST vote for I would be first in line to help toss him out the door, no matter who the politician was.

He says little against "faith" or "belief," except the "faith based inititive" comment. What Bill does best is challenge us to think. I find that interesting, even when I disagree with him, like the rather broad based neurological comment.
