It started with a bang...and some metallic clanging...and heavy metal music as well.
It started a new breed of professional football that hearkened back to the football of the past, when quarterbacks TOOK HITS WITHOUT COMPLAINING, when linemen WEREN'T penalised for using more than the force of a feather to hit an opposing player, when football DIDN'T parochialise their rules so as to make them paternalistic and draconian.
It was the Xtreme Football League.
It scored a 10,5 for NBC in its first weekend and also set a ratings record for TNN.
But then the press started writing nasty and unflatteringly negative stories about the XFL, turning them into hit pieces and character attacks. Sports Illustrated led the charge with an atrocious piece that attacked league just because WWF (now WWE) president Vince McMahon was the league's commissioner.
Sport talk radio also compared the XFL to the WWF.
The rest of the media fell into queue...and they were all wrong.
The XFL's players were actually well-behaved though they celebrated with impugnity. The well-regulated game's referees would use common sense when making a call yet generally just let the game go on.
NOTHING like the WWF.
The press' constant barrage of negative reporting week after week, gleefully boasting about their talking down the ratings, brainwashed the masses into not watching.
The liberal press were scared as Hell that their beloved, draconian, paternalistic No Fun League (as XFL on NBC colour commentator Jesse Ventura rightly dubbed it) would lose popularity.
The way the Nazi Football League is run with arcane and draconian rules, maybe the Oddball Bolsheviks DESERVE to lose some of their market share!
Besides, the National Socialist Football League doesn't think Los Angeles is a good pro football market. Show me a liberal journalist who buys that lie and I'll show you the XFL Champions Los Angeles Xtreme, with Tommy Maddox, Rashan Shehee, Jeremaine Copeland, and Saladin McCullough to name just a few.
Let's follow the chain of Sports Illustrated...which shares a sport channel with CNN...owned by AOL Time Warner...chaired by Ted Turner...billion-dollar benefactor of the United Nations...which is extremely leftist in nature.
The liberals have EVERYTHING to do with the destruction of the XFL audience with the Big Lie. They gleefully said, "Just call it the Ex-FL".
Hah. HEXED-FL is more like it.
The liberal press used the same approach with the XFL that they use with the following:
The NRA, George W Bush, Bernhard Goetz, OJ Simpson, Clarence Thomas, Ronald Reagan, Taiwan Republic of China, Israel, Kuwait, conservative Christians, and off road vehicles.
If this same bias against the media-killed XFL had existed against our military back in the 1940s you would be speaking German, or you would be a bar of soap. Think about it.
